Welcome

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Erica-Renee and I decided that this year I would finally dive into the fashion blog I’ve always wanted to do but always put on the back burner… until now! If you want to know a little bit more about my vision behind my blog and the kind of content I’ll be providing go ahead and checkout my Vision page, but if want to skip straight to the main content just keep on reading!

As a 20-something girl in Oregon I would say this is a pretty standard outfit. Anyone could pull this look out of their closet and rock it in every day life. Sweaters and boyfriend jeans are popular all over the West Coast but specifically in cities and towns close to, or surrounding Portland, which isn’t too far from where I live. Overall the reason I love this outfit so much is because it is so versatile. I could wear this outfit on a number of occasions and not look or feel out of place. Whether it’s grabbing a drink, running errands, a Holiday event, or meeting for coffee with a friend –this outfit holds up. During the winters it’s hard to know what the weather will do in the PNW, so it’s good to have an outfit that can conform easily or that doesn’t scream only one type of function. Something that’s comfortable like a sweater and jeans can be kept light in the summer or made warmer in the winter by adding some layers. I used a t-shirt and thick black tights to keep myself cozy warm underneath. I paired the outfit with a Tweed jacket that would add a layer of warmth but that wasn’t so heavy it would weigh me down. The contrast of fitted and loose together gives off an effortless flare that’s never a bad thing! Plus who doesn’t love some mixed and matched neutral colors?

I love the cozy Portland vibe this outfit portrays as well. This vintage sweater was actually my moms back in the day and it’s become a favorite in my sweater rotation. I love it because it’s fitted like a shirt, but gives off all the right sweater weather feels. Fitted sweaters are great because they are warm and not super-flashy if that’s not your thing, but they also don’t make you feel like you’re hiding if you’re going out with friends. I paired this sweater with boyfriend jeans because they are lose but also fitted. They aren’t tight, but they also don’t make me feel like I’m hiding under something super baggy (makes me feel like I still have legs). Pulling the outfit together with some black high heeled fuzzy booties, and a black baseball belt to cinch the waist, continues to emphasize the mix n’ match tone of the outfit, but expresses an intentional pulled together look.

Lastly making the outfit into a final look, a messy bun and a smokey eye add to the laid-back but intentional dynamic. All the contrast going on within this look is what makes it so versatile and fresh. And of course, the last but (for me) always essential accessory, is the bag! For this look I added a little brown box tote for all the essentials I need for an outing. This bag compliments the look by adding another neutral so as not to take away from the look, but adding an element to draw the eye in. Suddenly, voila, the outfit is complete!
