Where do you wear leggings? As one of the most comfortable and versatile pieces of clothing, I’d infer many people would answer “everywhere” to this question. Leggings are made in every color, print and fabric, and are sold by numerous brands. They’re so popular in fact, it’s possible to find leggings for basically every occasion. The real question is, what leggings are right for you? This week for the first ever review hosted on Maverick Elephant, I am reviewing the famous Zella brand’s Live In High Waist Leggings. As a girl that wears leggings for a variety of activities, i.e. running errands, vegging at home, working out, hikes, or as part of a full stylized outfit; plain black leggings are a must. Now the first thing I do when trying on a new pair of leggings is the initial bend over test. As silly as it may feel when you try to catch a good look at your backside in the mirror, it’s crucial in telling you if your leggings are see through or not. When I did the initial bend over test with my Zella leggings I was ecstatic to find that they are NOT see through. This fact shouldn’t be a revelation, but with the reality of almost all leggings being see through, it is.
I’ve bought leggings from many different brands at all different price points, and found after a month or so I’ve been wrong about the initial bend over test. It’s actually such a common problem I’ll often wear spandex underneath my leggings for an extra layer just in case. This is why I’ve waited to do this review. I wanted to wear the leggings for a couple months to truly know if after some wear they were see through or had any other issues. Now, after having the Zella leggings for a couple months, I’m pleased to tell you they passed the initial and prolonged bend over test.
After the two bend over tests the next most important thing is look and feel. Look wise these are extremely versatile, they are black and high-wasted, so they go with anything and could be used for many different outfits. I showcase this effect right here with two very different looks. One look for an every day cozy grunge vibe, and one look for a good workout. Super comfortable and super functional, they can be dressed up or down as seen in these shots. Further, since Zella leggings are made out of a moisture-wicking fabric they are perfect for working out and not getting too sweaty. The fabric is actually my favorite things about these leggings because of how the it hugs the body. It’s not in a tight uncomfortable way, but in a calming way due to the compression fabric. The fabric makes Zella leggings super durable as well as flattering; the perfect combo. They’re slimming and show off your figure, but remain so, comfortable –hence the live in leggings part of their name.
Although I loved these leggings from the second I put them on, I wasn’t sure about the our long term relationship. Fortunately, after having them for awhile now, I feel comfortable saying that they are by far the best quality leggings I’ve encountered. For example, they are better quality than Forever 21 or Fabletics leggings. Two brands I commonly see advertised in contrast to Zella leggings. Zella leggings are more expensive than those brands, but Zella’s quality will outlast those, as well as brands of similar quality and style. As for higher end brands Zella leggings fit right in. For example, they are better quality than Kari Traa, and surpass every Nike legging I’ve ever tried. I cannot personally speak for their similarity to Lululemon as I haven’t tried the Lululemon brand yet. However, I did do some digging and the majority of reviews put Zella leggings and Lululemon leggings in the same bracket as far as quality, fit and feel. Overall I would say Zella’s Live In High Waist Leggings not only support a variety of outfits and activities, but they truly live up to their name as leggings you would want to wear every day. If you are on the lookout for some great leggings these would be an excellent addition and I’m sure they would become a fast staple in your closet.
